At Saker Systems, our connectivity to the technical engineering field is our greatest asset. Many of our contractors hold leadership roles within distinguished engineering and technological committees, have received awards for their specialized work within their field and hold patents on their cutting-edge research. We are able to utilize our vast network of the best and brightest engineers in order to provide our clients with first-class solutions.
We specialize in providing consultation, engineering services and research within these specific fields of the utility industry:
Saker Systems is driving Smart Grid Technology forward with the implementation of wireless capabilities and wireless communication standards. We are helping define the next generation of wireless architecture, establishing communication testing capabilities, setting and testing policies for utility companies across the nation. Currently, we are focusing on the home and small neighborhood networks. Saker Systems utilizes our leading roles within various groups and committees – IEEE 802.15: Task Groups 4G, 4E and 4K, ZigBee: Smart Energy Profile and Qualification Groups, OpenSG Conformity Group, NIST/SGIP Smart Grid Testing and Certification Committee - to guide this emerging technology into realization.
Saker Systems is heavily involved in the push to reduce carbon emissions and shift to environmentally-friendly vehicles. We are working to better integrate Plug-in Electic Vehicles (PEV) with their smart grid components, making them more energy (and cost) efficient for consumers and utility companies alike. Our current work includes architecture and design, pilots, testing and implementation of sub-metering and billing, back office integration, EV and HAN based infrastructure and communications, demand response and future ancillary services. To this end, we are engaged with several national and international standards bodies and organizations related to the integration and betterment of PEVs, including but not limited to, the Society of Automotive Engineers, OpenSG, ANSI, Smart Energy and NIST.
Saker Systems provides security solutions to the utility industry. We address the three major tenets of Information Security: Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability (CIA). We have set up internal controls to correct violations to CIA, if and when they occur. Our goal is to proactively address the potential as well as safeguard against real and present threats to the security of the SOC Information System, which is made up of the meters, the communication systems and their supporting systems. We are utilizing our various leadership roles with national and international communities – UCA International users group, National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the International Electrotechnical Commission – to coordinate these necessary changes across the utility industry. As we move forward, evaluation of incoming data as well as assessment and remediation of potential vulnerabilities is key in order to provide a strong security posture and defense for the SOC Information System.
At Saker Systems, we are experienced in handling large, complex projects. Our approach helps to mold disciplines and specialty groups into a single team effort, forming a structured development process that proceeds from concept to production to operation. We consider both the business and the technical needs of all customers early in the development cycle with the goal of providing a quality product that meets the user needs.
